History is repeating itself - January 14th, 2025

History is literally repeating itself. In John 10:20 it says 20 Some said, “He’s demon possessed and out of his mind/insane/crazy/mad. Why listen to a man like that?” 21 Others said, “These are not the words of one who is possessed/oppressed by a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?”

Jesus was literally telling people while he was on the cross about the prophecy that was unfolding before their very eyes as he was hanging there on the cross by quoting a sentence from Psalm 22 which doesn't just talk about 'My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?' but also about 'Dogs have surrounded me; a band of evil men has encircled me, they have pierced my hands and my feet. I can count all my bones; people stare and gloat over me (...) and even fortells the future as Psalm 22 also states 'future generations will be told about the Lord'...

People were laughing. It's important that we realize this was also a way to humiliate Jesus before the public.

John 19:23-24
When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they divided His garments into four parts, one for each soldier, with the tunic remaining. It was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom. / So they said to one another, “Let us not tear it. Instead, let us cast lots to see who will get it.” This was to fulfill the Scripture: “They divided My garments among them, and cast lots for My clothing.” So that is what the soldiers did.

With this very act they did what Psalm 22 had foretold concerning the Messiah 'They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing.'

A lesser known account of Jesus being mocked

In Mark 6:1-6, when Jesus returns to Nazareth, the townspeople are skeptical of His teachings and miracles, questioning, "Isn't this the carpenter?"
